Air Fryer Sticky Sriracha Chicken Wings

By Esther Lackie

I love chicken wings with a little kick, and these sticky Sriracha wings were just what I was craving. I coated them with avocado oil, added my favourite seasonings and a little corn starch, then cooked them in the air fryer until golden. A simple Sriracha and butter sauce gave them that lovely spicy coating. I served mine with golden potato wedges, and it made such a satisfying meal.

Ingredients

  • 500 g chicken wings
  • A drizzle of avocado oil
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon shichimi togarashi
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon Cajun spice
  • 1 teaspoon corn starch (cornflour)
  • 3 tablespoons Sriracha sauce
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish
  • Potato wedges, for serving (optional)

Method

  1. 01

Place the chicken wings in a mixing bowl, drizzle with avocado oil and mix until lightly coated.

  2. 02

Add the paprika, shichimi togarashi, garlic powder, salt and Cajun spice, and mix well to coat the chicken wings evenly.

  3. 03

Sprinkle 1 teaspoon of corn starch over the seasoned wings and mix again until evenly distributed.

      1. 04

Arrange the seasoned chicken wings in the COSORI Dual Blaze air fryer basket in a single layer without overcrowding.

      2. 05

Select Air Fry mode, set the temperature to 180°C and cook for 20 minutes. No preheating was used, and the wings were not flipped during cooking; mine were golden after cooking. Make sure the chicken wings are fully cooked before serving; chicken should reach a safe internal temperature of 74°C. Cooking time may vary depending on wing size and air fryer model.

Towards the end of the air fryer cooking time, place 3 tablespoons of Sriracha sauce and 1 tablespoon of butter in a pan and warm gently, stirring until the butter melts and combines with the Sriracha.

          2. 07

Transfer the cooked chicken wings to a mixing bowl, pour the warm Sriracha butter sauce over the wings and toss until coated.

            Lackie's Notes

Feel free to adjust the seasonings to suit your taste. If you prefer a milder flavour, start with less of the spicier seasonings and adjust to your liking.

The sauce is simply Sriracha and butter. You can adjust the amount of Sriracha to suit how spicy you like your wings.

A little corn starch helps give the wings a lightly crisp exterior before they're coated in the sauce.

Cooking times can vary depending on the size of your wings and your air fryer. Make sure the chicken is thoroughly cooked before serving.
